I'm at Loblaws and they're out of stock yet again on a three items on my list:  sweet potatoes, breakfast pitas and maple syrup.  I don't think these are obscure items.  I've often thought shopping at Loblaws is what it would have been like in the old Soviet republic -- if you see something you stock up cause you never know when they'll have it again.

I'm going to try to find the new supermarket that opened up near the docks.  Maybe they'll have stuff like, you know, stocked shelves.

I hear ya! Today I went to the Loblaws at Leslie & Lake Shore and can you believe they were out of fresh basil? Which supermarket would be out of fresh herbs right before the weekend? That's outrageous!!

  2. Heather and I went to the new place, T&T Supermarket, on Saturday. It focuses more on asian food, but they did have a lot of vegetables, including big bunches of herbs for much cheaper than Loblaws. At some point I plan to grow my own herbs, but until then I think I may get them at T&T.

Good plan! I grew an herb garden last summer that consisted of rosemary, parsley and tarragon (ironically, I bought this herb garden at Loblaws).

It was so nice to clip fresh herbs just outside my back door while making dinner - not to mention the cost savings. It's pretty bad when we buy fresh herbs only to use about 1/4 of the bunch and then end up throwing the rest out a week later. I plan to check out T&T sometime soon. Thx for the tip.
